Anybody watching this? Is it me or does the NBA REALLY want Lebron in the finals? The refs are seriously screwing the Magic in this series. There has been some really questionable fouls.

Here you go Bo... Donaghy didn't even officiate in the biggest thrown game in NBA history.

On the one hand, being as you're just some guy on an internet message board, and so am I, I can see why you would think that. On the other hand, I think you should take a look in the mirror. Everybody in the world thinks that Ozzie Smith belongs in the HOF but you can't be swayed no matter how convincing the argument presented is. On the flip side of that coin, you single handedly changed the way I feel about steroids. So..........

I watched the rigged lottery, that was pretty insane. I never knew that, but it was painfully obvious that the whole thing was a sham. wow!
bodiaz Posted - 05/23/2009 : 14:31:34
That ref was acting on his own, for his own profit. That is why David Stern held nothing back when talking about him. Kobe and LeBron are the 2 most aggresive players in the game, and therefore will always get the most calls. Do you remember when Jordan came back with the Wizards? Jordan used to lead the league in FT attempts every year, but when he came to Washington, he settled for jumpers and his FT attempts declined greatly. The best athletes with the quickest first step will get to the hole, and get the foul calls. LeBron and Kobe are the best, and will get the calls. NIke set those ads up, not the NBA. I know I am arguing with a guy that you can't win against, so just have faith. There is no conspiracy! Don't you think if there was someone would have written a book by now?!?!?!?

I agree the more I watch the more its been pretty obvious that calls are swayed towards certain teams. No mention of one of the Cavs players chucking the basketball at I believe it was Howard and there was no Technical called. And for the Lebron travel call I sure hope they called it, he took 3 big steps. Of course this is nothing new, you have MJs shove in Byron Russells back years ago to hit the winning shot.

Heck for anyone whos old enough to remember the Ewing draft, I believe it was the first lottery was clearly rigged. Heck alls you have to do is youtube that. Stern rigged the draft, one ref was already busted for rigging games, just like the MLB and steroids I highly doubt it was an isolated incident. Seriously though to anyone that doesn't know about the rigging on the Ewing draft you should seriously check it out on youtube. Unfortunately basetball is just a much easier game than most sports to have a ref help another team win.

Yeah, the FBI is known for being stupid and just jumping to conclusions. Or wait... Oh, I guess they probably did a little research to find out that NBA games were being rigged. And if the FBI was wrong, one has to wonder why the NBA official pled guilty. Probably just easier than the hassle of putting up a fight I suppose.

Isn't it weird that the NBA is so confident that there will be a Kobe vs LeBron Finals that they are already running the commercials and ESPN specials for it?

jla08 Posted - 05/23/2009 : 12:48:50
Oh yeah... why would the NBA want Lebron vs Kobe? It's the same as Magic vs Nuggets, right? I was upset when the Magic won. I was upset when Denver won. Because even when they won they were getting screwed by the refs. 90+% of the bad calls are going in favor of Cavs and Lakers.
bodiaz Posted - 05/23/2009 : 12:34:43
There is alot of people complaining about NHL refs too! I live in Detroit, and everytime they lose the fans call and blame the refs. Happens in every town. It is called sour grapes. You people that think there is a conspiracy are really not smart.

basketball? what is that? LOL. I dont think i ever even seen a game in my life. OR let alone more than 2 minutes of it. For some reason it never cought onto me. I dont know why......
RyanL24 Posted - 05/23/2009 : 11:02:55
I would rather discuss basketball with the baseball people... people I know.

The whole thing is a crock, it's becoming as real as the WWE. The games too fast to officiate correctly? Seriously? The NHL has a much faster game and the officials there seem to be able to manage. Of course, none of them have ever been busted for rigging the games.*

Here are my favorites so far in the Nuggets Lakers series...

Kobe TACKLES KMart as if tackling was a part of the game. No foul called.

Nene and Odom hit the floor and grab the ball. The refs call a jump ball... between Odom and Billups! Huh?

Gasol shoves KMart in the back, and they call a technical... on KMart!!!

Honorable mention goes to the announcers calling the game. Like the last game, they kept going on and on and on about how JR Smith was in the circle on that jump ball at the end. They kept crying that it was a violation. They didn't bother to mention or notice that Lamar Odom actually got there first. The refs missed the call, but if they had called it the announcers would have been in for a surprise.

Besides that, why this B-Ball crap in the Baseball forum?

Dave- Yeah, but did you see Dwight with his hands clearly extended straight up in the air the other night and get called for a foul ....to foul him out. What if that game went to overtime?

Gary- You can't redeem a bunch of wrong calls with a correct one. Yeah, most of their calls are correct. But if you watch the entire game there are too many close calls going Cavs way. Along with blatantly wrong calls. Now it might just be home court working... so lets see how they ref in Orlando. I have to say the 4th quarter was reffed great though.

Besides that... a GREAT game... even though I wanted the outcome different. I always root for the underdog.
U2ME57 Posted - 05/23/2009 : 04:44:28
Lebron got called for travelling with 30 seconds left in the game, so the refs didn't look the other way on that one. I'm sure the NBA does want Lebron and Kobe in the finals as they would draw much better ratings than Magic vs. Nuggets.

Ive watched Dwight lower his shoulder alot in this series already and not get called. They are going to take care of the superstars. Thats what makes the NBA work. I watched Dwight undercut Anderson Verajo (sp) and got away with it. No biggie, Its how it goes in the NBA. I also saw James get smacked in the face the other night and it didnt get called. Let the stars play. I think the officials are doing a good job.

Lebron > Kobe

Soon Lebron > MJ

thats why he wears #23, he is a god and is taking over the number.
jla08 Posted - 05/22/2009 : 23:16:46
Actually, even though I'm a Kobe hater (when he is wearing a Lakers uniform), I felt like many calls were going against him.
It is not just when lebron drives. Although those are most of the wrong calls. There have been a couple of offensive fouls called on the magic which are iffy.
I know officiating is hard...I'm just venting.
bodiaz Posted - 05/22/2009 : 23:11:41
The game is fast and therefore hard to officiate. There is no conspiracy. If you go to the whole aggresively, you will likely get the call. That is how the NBA works. That is why you need a superstar on your team to win. Watch how many calls Kobe gets next time you watch that series. Kobe is the most aggrsive player, and thus gets the most calls.
